Career Fair Information for Companies
For the past 20 years, the annual Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo Civil and Environmental Engineering Career Fair has provided an intimate setting for companies to meet (and hire!) some of the best and brightest civil and environmental engineering students in the nation. This year’s graduating class promises to be no exception as both the American Society of Civil Engineers Student Chapter (SCE) and the Society of Environmental Engineers (SENVE) earned national recognition for excellence in 2009. SCE was awarded the 2009 ASCE Robert Ridgway Award, which is given to the single most outstanding ASCE Student Chapter in the nation, and SENVE was awarded 2nd Place in the nation for the 2008-2009 Outstanding Student Chapter Award by the Air and Waste Management Association.
SCE and SENVE strive to enhance the top-notch education Cal Poly provides for its students. This is accomplished in the spirit of Cal Poly’s “Learn by Doing” philosophy as each club hosts on-site field trips, regional and national-level technical contests, social events, monthly meetings with professional speakers, information sessions, and regional conferences. Our chapters provide students with the opportunity to develop their social, professional, and technical skills before joining companies like yours.
SCE and SENVE are honored to invite your company to the 20th Annual Civil and Environmental Engineering Career Fair which will take place on Friday, January 29, 2010. We are very excited about hosting the career fair and the unique opportunity that your company will have to meet and recruit some of 2010’s top engineering graduates. In reserving attendance for this event, your company can choose any or all of the following options:
- Attend the Career Fair: This includes a table at the fair with recruiting opportunities from 9am – 2pm, complimentary breakfast and lunch, plus one résumé CD.
- Attend the Formal Banquet: Your company can sponsor a table for a delicious dinner and the opportunity to meet and recruit students in a social environment. This event will be held on the evening of January 29, 2010 following the fair.
- Purchase a Résumé CD: Purchase a Résumé CD: Collect information about some of our most talented and ambitious students.
- Participate in the Golf Tournament: This is a one round golf tournament to be held the morning after the fair on January 30, 2010.
- Make a Donation: Support one or both of our chapters by making a tax-deductible donation. These are just some of the SCE and SENVE events planned for this year:
SCE is committed to hosting this year’s ASCE National Concrete Canoe Competition in June 2010. Cal Poly will host universities from around the U.S. and Canada for the three-day competition which will include technical events and, of course, the races.
SENVE is sponsoring two environmental design teams this year and also plans to attend the Air and Waste Management Association 103rd Annual Conference and Exhibition in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
We would greatly appreciate you taking a few minutes to complete and submit the enclosed registration form. Within 3 weeks of payment, you can expect to receive confirmation of your reservation. In December, we will send a detailed packet of information which will include such things as directions, parking and shipping information, and a final schedule for the event.
SCE and SENVE are committed to making this career fair a valuable and enjoyable experience for your company. Thank you for your time and support of Cal Poly students and our student chapters. Please contact us if you have any questions. We look forward to hearing from you.
